The turmoil that has been roiling the global markets and knocked 25% off the value of the Goldman Global alpha fund finally caught up the Worthless AFC as Wednesday night witnessed a 25-standard deviation event, something expected only every 100,000 years. The victims this time were the white team, who got pasted by an immaculate blues performance. Hugo opened his account with a header and proceeded to score 4 more goals – from all angles, and with some handy finishing – Duncan threaded a pinpoint ball ALONG THE GROUND. Arbib played his usual polished game – Inglis goalkeeping kept whites at bay when a comeback was in the offing – Burrows and Gillespie and Sweete did the rest. Blues finishing was uncanny - Warner’s performance (-3.9%) uncorrelated to his fund (+ 5.2%). Reynolds lets in a shocking goal. Kline balloons one over the fence. General lack of marking by whites contributes to thrashing. The sense that the world had turned upside down was then confirmed by the presence of 5 blues in the pub afterwards and no Olly. Extraordinary times, probably never to be repeated. Blues win 10-6 (I think that was the score) |

The midweek Arsenal home game ensured that the teams were decimated with the usual suspects placing club above country. Arbib decides late doors that he doesn't fancy it on a cold and windy Wednesday night. Gorton quickly opens his account with two goals, but cannot convert into the much coveted hat-trick. Whites have the extra player for the first half, a skilful and pacy sub (Rupert), but much over elaboration and poncing around in the oppo penalty area ensures that they only took a slender lead into the second half. Warner huffing and puffing, can’t beat anyone for pace yet as he still needs to do some fitness work – park plays above his usual standard, kline scores a nice chip – sweete misses a sitter (probably more than one in fact, some things never change) and shorty wins the game for blues with a fine header in the last minute having left his marker floundering behind. |

Dinamo win by one goal - late surge by whites doesn't quite carry them through - notable absentees - warner - swanning around the us on his 10th holiday of the year - finch nearly shafts his teammates and is saved by a late sub that evens up the numbers. Cuddigan, H claims a 3 minute hat trick and miraculously beats reynolds for pace over 5 yards. Poor finishing from whites contributes to downfall. An inspired John Park turns in one of his best performances, including some smart finishing, some sharp defending, and no goalkeeping blunders. |

Well the arsenal contingent didn't show, and Jeff Romeo was a late member of that - otherwise there was a problem with selection, (JP said he couldn't understand your codes and stuff on the website) so Ed Sweete wasn't selected on the website and had arranged to do something else. Lewis Holland turned up as a ringer , so we played 6 versus 5 with extra player for reds first half and blues second half. Reds were one goal up at half time, and Shaun switched to blues. Reds went 2 goals up and we managed to hold on until three minutes into extra time when blues equalised - mark davies made 2 goals and scored two - otherwise blues were lamentable in front of goal - julien was a bad culprit - i was trying to pass back to our keeper, but failed to realize he was several yards outside his area and only suceeded in passing the ball to julien, who was on his own in our area with an open goal and he managed to hit the outside of the post. lewis made a number of key last ditch blocks, ethan cleared one or two off the line, as did arbib, and jp managed to deflect a powerful duncan shot over the bar.. jp trod on the ball and landed on his arse - duncan was in the vicinity of this for the second time in two weeks - match was drawn 6-6. "barney only neglected to mention my 3 first half\ngoals. two 1/2 volleys -- one from the top of the 18\nthat flew into the upper corner." - Kline. "Sorry about that - the first one was rather special I must admit - probably best described as a screaming unstoppable half volley from the edge of the area." - Fatboy |

Reds hold on to one goal lead in extra time to winn second in a row.Another balmy summer evening. Another victory for reds. Decent quality football all round. First half - evenly matched - ethan provides beautiful cross to reynolds head - straight at the keeper - 5 minutes later, ethan plays a one two, swings another beauty across - this time arbib shows the way and nods the ball in. Boris holding firm in blues defence as blues take a 4-2 lead. Romeo effective - can't remember who scored for blues - second half notable for duncan / barney clash which left barney flat on the tarmac nursing a bloody arm. post match analysis interupted by drunken bird in pub who was probably trying to chat us up. |

This year has witnessed a Chelsea team with no englishmen, an Arsenal team with no englishmen, and on wednesday night for the first time ever, not one regular italian player was able to brave the cold - Rome, founded on seven hills, embodied in seven mortal representatives is no more. We hung our heads at the moment of the decline of the most extraordinary dominion which has ever invaded and oppressed the world; the fall of that immense empire, erected on the ruins of so many kingdoms, republics, and states both barbarous and civilized. Excuses as follows - warner - playing for another team - g - making sure his hairdo didn't get ruined before going skiing (other excuses to be added if you know what they are)- on to the game - reds win by a narrow margin(5-4 i think) - blues subs put up an admirable fight - highlights of the game include hugo cuddigan's miss from point blank range - unstoppable reynolds left footer from the edge of the area - reynolds dancing around hugo before sliding the ball into the bottom corner, and candidate for goal of the season - delicate lob by sebag from the right hand edge of the area leaving keeper with no chance. |

7 man Reds win by 1 goal against 6 man blues - 3 headers from reds enough to see off spirited resistance from the blues - boris and hugo's mate from the arsenal put in good season debut performances. Post match pub contingent delighted to discover hot panninis on the menu until 9pm. "Raj didn't show tonight. very disappointing, especially since i'd stood romeo down saying we had a full complement." Raj: "I don't understand. I was in Paris and was certain that my name was not down for football. In fact I had seen a Hugo mail saying that there were only 4/5 a side etc. Not sure what happened, but if I was remiss I apologise." blues played well, but lost 7-6. |

blues massacre reds, who are again riven by internal feuding. park palms a speculative throw in into his own net to open the scoring for blues, before dummying over a g shot to let in the second - spends most of first half in goal to redeem himself - blues 7 nil up at half time. second half a bit tighter but not much - reds manage a consolation goal or two - highlight of the half - hugo c kicks ball off straight to shorty who rounds a player or two and then scores - lots of whinging ensues. duncan hat-trick - good play by fuller, beaumont, shorty, davies. very poor play by all of reds. 11 or 12 - 3 final score. |

another low quality affair - blues win by two goals - blues storm into the lead - romeo, j outstanding in defence for blues - two headers by barney bring reds back into game before giving away ball on edge of box to provide a simple tap in for blues to seal victory - fuller looking sleek and effective after the christmas break - reds tactics involve screaming you f**king arse as loudly as possible at paddy (or any other team mate) every time they have the ball |

Wednesday's match report in advance. Blues get stuffed again. Trebles all round for the reds. Only sloppy defending in last minute allows consolation goal to save blushes. majority of italian team swanning around at christmas parties chasing waitresses. Is O'Reilly leaving the country ?? Reynolds's biased version: "Chile thrash hapless blues on a cold and wet night. Chile open up a 3 goal lead before blues pull two goals back early in the second half, but their hopes are squashed as reds pull away again and end up winning 10-4, late consolation goal flatters blues. Highlights - Pete Davies samples the tarmac with a face long plunge to the deck in slippery conditions, Burrows deflects thumping Arbib volley over the bar. Mark Davies spends first half on the bench. Hugo rounds it off with a header. 2 goals each for park, reynolds, kline, and gorton." Objective grapevine - "No show Beaumont, Derrick. Amazingly both contribute more than usual in their absence. Mark Davies conducts BBC interview on the sidelines till half time. Gizzard hacks down Pete Davies from behind." |

Chile thrash Italy on cold winter night - reds dominate proceedings with some excellent pass and move football - 1 nil up at half time, the second half turns into a rout, with reds running out 7-1 winners. Reds share out the goals amongst everyone except for Paddy , who managed a few shots off target - unstoppable bullet from fuller saves blues from ze humiliation of a niller. |
